“Twosday” wasn’t the number one choice for Lindsey DeLong’s and Dustin Snow’s wedding.
But when COVID canceled their Cayman Islands wedding plans for later this spring, the couple went with Plan B. The location is not so exotic – but the date will be unforgettable.
DeLong and Snow will be married on “Twosday” – 2/22/2022 at 2:22 p.m. – at First Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green.
“Your wedding is a once in a lifetime thing. So we literally picked a once in a lifetime date,” DeLong said Monday. “We went for the big shabang.”
Snow and DeLong had originally planned a small wedding in March with family on the Cayman Islands, a special location for Snow’s family. But due to the pandemic, the islands aren’t guaranteeing arrangements for people traveling to the region.
That was just too much stress for the couple – so they went with a backup plan.
The new location is at First Presbyterian Church, where DeLong attended with her grandparents Gary and Janet DeLong, of Bowling Green. Pastor David Montgomery will perform the ceremony.
“My family’s not real flashy,” she said. So the small church wedding fits her style.
“We started looking at the calendar for dates,” not wanting to let COVID spoil their big day.
“We decided 2/22/2022 would be fun,” DeLong said. “We’re just going to do the whole ‘Twosday’ experience. Everybody is super excited about it.”
“We’re shooting for me to walk down the aisle at 2:22,” she said.
And the new date should pay off in the future for the spouses.
“Everybody keeps saying we’ll never forget it,” Snow said.
After the intimate ceremony, the newlyweds and their families will go out to eat together.
“There’s no stress. It’s just a small town thing,” DeLong said.
Snow is a lab tech in the pathology department at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, and DeLong is a special education teacher in Sylvania City School District.
The couple met nearly three years ago on a blind date set up by Snow’s dad, who was a school resource officer in Sylvania.
“One day my kids brought up in class that I didn’t have a boyfriend, and I needed one,” DeLong recalled. “His dad took it literally.”
That was on a Monday, and on Friday Snow and DeLong had their first date at Olive Garden.
“We were so nervous. We didn’t touch the breadsticks.” Who does that, DeLong said.
The couple progressed to movies and trips up to the lake.
“I knew pretty early on that this would be it,” Snow said of deciding DeLong was the one for him.
They had been together about a year, when DeLong’s grandpa, Gary, passed away.
“Dustin was such a rock for me,” she said.
The couple’s engagement was low-key – just how they like it.
“We were at home one night on the couch, and Dustin pulled the ring out and just asked – which is so us,” DeLong said.
People keep asking Snow if he is nervous about “Twosday.” And he keeps insisting he’s not.
“It just feels like the right thing,” Snow said.
The couple still plans to honeymoon in the Cayman Islands, and will hold a celebration later this summer with friends and family.
