Mary Ethel Gump, age 92, of Bradner, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Bowling Green Manor Nursing Home. She was born on January 1, 1931, in Bradner to the late Lester B. & Helen L. (Scheele) St. Clair, Sr. Mary Married Howard L. Gump, Sr. on April 25, 1950, in Bowling Green, and he preceded her in passing on March 6, 2003.
Surviving Mary are her sons, Howard L. Gump, Jr., of Toledo, Douglas E. (Brenda) Gump, Sr., of Wayne, David E. (Karen) Gump of Fostoria, Donald E. (Mary) Gump of Bowling Green; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester & Helen; loving husband, Howard; daughter-in-law, Deanna Gump; siblings, James, Harry, Richard, Robert, Joseph, Kenneth, Lester Jr, David, Merlin “Milo,” Clara Smith, Kathryn Orr, Margie Northam, Molly Hartman; grandson, Douglas Gump, Jr; and great-granddaughter, Jamie Gump.
Mary was a graduate of Bradner High School, worked as a Custodian for Lakota Schools for 15 years, and enjoyed working as a Housekeeper for many years. She was a member of the former House of Prayer Church in Bradner, where she was very involved as a Sunday School Teacher. She was always very strong in her faith. Mary had a special love for hummingbirds, and enjoyed gardening, flowers & plants, puzzles, and crocheting. Her greatest love in life though, was always her family. Mary’s family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to the staff and nurses at Bowling Green Manor Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave to Mary.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 11 AM with her son, Pastor Howard Gump Jr officiating.
