Bicyclist on Slippery Elm Trail suffers life-threatening injuries in crash at Ohio 281

Wood County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious injury crash Monday evening involving a bicycle on the Slippery Elm Trail near Rudolph, south of Bowling Green.

At 5:20 p.m., a bicyclist was riding northbound on the trail, when he reportedly failed to stop at Ohio 281. As he entered the roadway, the bicyclist was struck by a Chevy SUV traveling eastbound on Route 281.

The bicyclist reportedly was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was transported by Life Flight to Mercy St. Vincent in Toledo, with life-threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
