The Cocoon to celebrate 19th anniversary with annual parking lot party at Arlyn’s Good Beer

The Cocoon, Wood County’s only domestic and sexual violence advocacy center and emergency shelter, has announced its 19th anniversary and celebration at the annual Parking Lot Party, presented by Buckeye Broadband. This event is scheduled for Saturday, June 15, from 4 until 10 p.m., at Arlyn’s Good Beer, 520 Hankey Ave., Bowling Green.

The Cocoon opened its doors on June 14, 2005, with the mission of providing safety, healing, and justice for all survivors and a commitment to building an empowered and compassionate community that embraces anti-violence. Over the last 19 years, The Cocoon has served more than 8,000 survivors in the Wood County community, with 938 individuals served in 2023.

The annual Parking Lot Party is a celebration that brings together the community for an evening of live music, food, awareness, and fundraising opportunities that will directly assist local survivors of domestic and sexual violence. This year’s event includes an amateur cornhole tournament.

Those interested in participating in the tournament can register at https://thecocoon.org/upcoming-events/. The event format is a race to 21 and winners each receive a new set of bags.

Fundraising opportunities include a suggested $5 donation at the door, a 50/50 raffle, and pizza by the slice at the State Bank tent.
