Rose lacks what’s needed in a county recorder

Mr. Rose’s bid for the position of Wood County Recorder is flawed on so many levels, and his campaign is based on half-truths, mistruths, and outright lies.

The twenty-something Connor Rose lacks maturity, lacks experience, and lacks professionalism.  All these qualities are required for public office.

Lacks maturity: Mr. Rose’s use of a proprietary application reserved for real estate agents to do oppo-research on democrat opponents, and then denying that he ever did so in the face of real evidence shows his lack of maturity.  This man is asking the voting public to believe that he will keep safe their deeds, mortgages, and veterans discharges and not use that information for his political needs as he did with his trusty ForeWarn iPhone app.

Lacks experience: Mr. Rose has run his campaign on the fact that the Recorder had changed the way it indexed records (from geographic to some other nebulous method).  The truth is that the Recorder’s office has never changed its method of indexing.  His assertion to the contrary is an absolute canard, or at least a lack of understanding of the workings of the office.  Had Mr. Rose ever crossed the threshold of the Recorder’s office, or relied on the advice of the office’s most “major customer” he would have known that no such changes to indexing had happened.  Mr. Rose is clueless about the office he seeks.

Lacks Professionalism:  In April of this year, Jim Matuszak wrote a letter to both candidates seeking the office to come and learn about how the office works, and to meet the staff that effectively serves there.  Mr. Schroeder accepted the offer and had such a meeting.  Mr. Rose declined the offer, stating, in an email, that the offer was “inappropriate”, and he would only visit the office after his successful election.  Only months later did he email again asking, “if the offer was still open”.  Had Mr. Rose had the slightest inclination, he would have known that the Recorder’s office is a public office open to all during normal business hours.  All he had to do was cross the threshold.

The Recorder’s office has an important function in this community.  It allows for the safe transfer of property from seller to buyer, and in turn, warranties that deeds are valid, and mortgages are satisfied.  This is not an office for a Gen Z’er looking for his first full-time job. It is a serious office, doing serious work, I think it requires a serious adult to do the job.
