Alton Howard Beeker, of Pemberville, OH passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, after a happy long life of 95 years. He was born on July 14, 1929 at home in Woodville, OH to Claden and Minnie (Tille) Beeker. He graduated from Gibsonburg High School’s Class of 1947. He married his high school sweetheart, Dolores Hagemeyer on August 19, 1950 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pemberville. Alton and Dolores raised 1 daughter and 3 sons and enjoyed 71 years of marriage in the home they built.
Alton was known for his hard work ethic. He worked and retired from Sun Oil Refinery after 37 years of service and he also was a farmer that started with a 2-row planter. He also owned and operated his own construction business and loved to serve the community through his business. He was chosen as Outstanding Citizen in 2010 and him and his wife reigned as King and Queen of Pemberville in 2001. He was very proud to be a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He helped to start and be a part of the Pemberville Fair, Opera House, Antique Store, Historical Society, and he also served on City Council. He was well known for starting the famous Pemberville Tug of War that he ran for 25 years.
Alton rejoins the love of his life, Dolores, who preceded him in death 2 years ago. He is survived by his children: Linda (Greg) Meier of Bowling Green, Rod (Chris) Beeker of Northwood, and Randy (JoAnne) Beeker of Pemberville. Grandchildren: Shannon (Chris) Cluck of TN, Stephanie (Brent) Webb of VA, Greg (Melina) Emans of Luckey, Lori (Matt) Frymire of Rossford, Steven (Mackenzie) Bradley of Woodville, Brianna Meier of Ravina, OH, Austin Meier of Bowling Green, Heather (Levi) Sybert of GA, Jason (Kelly) Beeker of Luckey, Corine (Bryan) Wightman of Gibsonburg, Kelly Pietrazak of Walbridge, and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Rick Beeker, grandchildren: Justin Beeker and Krystal Beeker, and his only sister, Lois Henline.
Family and friends will be received 4-7 p.m., on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the Marsh Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 220 Cedar Street, Pemberville. There will be additional visitation from 10 a.m., until the time of service. Officiating will be Rev. Timothy Philabaum. Interment will be in Pemberville Union Cemetery, Pemberville.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family also wishes to thank the Wood County Hospital Nurses and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the care provided in our dads’ final days.
