Bowling Green Police responded to a report of a man waving a gun and yelling at a woman in the middle of a parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1500 block of East Clough Street, on Dec. 9 around 1:30 p.m.
The first officer on the scene saw the suspect in front of an apartment, identified himself as police, unholstered his sidearm, and told the suspect to show his hands.
The suspect instead entered the apartment, where a woman was inside crying and yelling. The officer continued to give commands for the man to exit the apartment. The male exited the apartment with his hands in the air.
The woman then exited the apartment and stated there were children inside. She told police that the suspect, her former boyfriend, did not own a gun.
Police asked the woman for consent to search her pickup truck outside the apartment, since the man had been seen in the vehicle. She denied consent.
A relative of the woman told police that the suspect had threatened to burn down the woman’s apartment with her and the children inside. But the woman denied that statement had been made.
The suspect was released from custody, and left the property, with the apartment manager asking that he no longer be allowed at the complex.
