BG man arrested with BAC of .358 after allegedly hitting exterior of wine shop and leaving scene

A Bowling Green man was arrested Nov. 20 and taken to Wood County Jail after reportedly backing into a building and leaving the scene.

BG Police responded after a motorist reportedly saw the accident, then followed the driver of the pickup to Vale Court. Police went to the home and arrested Adam Purdy, 35, for operating a vehicle under the influence with a BAC of .358, driving under a license suspended for failure to pay child support, and failure to stop after causing an accident injuring property.

Purdy reportedly backed into the exterior wall at a business that sells wine and other beverages in the 100 block of East Napoleon Road. Police noted he was stumbling, had a strong odor of alcohol, and glassy eyes. According to the police report, Purdy initially said he had been sleeping, denied driving his truck and told officers someone else must have used his vehicle.

However, camera footage at the accident scene reportedly showed it was Purdy driving the truck.
