BG police arrest man for assault and aggravated menacing

Bowling Green Police Division arrested a man for assault and aggravated menacing on Tuesday afternoon.

Frankie J. Hernandez, 39, of Parkview Drive, was taken to Wood County Jail.

Police received a call from a woman who said Hernandez, her ex-boyfriend, had taken her car keys and phone when she refused to go into his home. As she was walking to Kroger to use the phone to call police, Hernandez reportedly followed her in her truck.

As she passed the Little Caesar’s shop, Hernandez reportedly stopped the truck and approached her. He allegedly grabbed her arm, grabbed her shirt and hair and pulled. The woman’s shirt was ripped at the collar. The woman told police that Hernandez then said, “Now you can call the cops.”

The woman was able to call police from Kroger. But as she exited the store, she was again approached by Hernandez. As she walked behind Goodwill, Hernandez reportedly started speeding toward her. She told police she had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.

Police spoke with two employees from Goodwill who were outside on a break when they saw a vehicle accelerate toward the woman. It looked like the driver was trying to hit the woman, who had to jump into the grass to get out of the way, a witness said.
