BG resident: Remember Herald’s opposition to anti-discrimination ordinance

Councilman Bill Herald has shown a long-standing interest in our local government, but voters would do well to bear his history in mind before reelecting him to represent us on BG City Council.

Residents may not remember that, back in 2010, Mr. Herald actively fought for the “right” of organizations to fire, refuse to hire, or refuse to serve a person based on sexual orientation. Mr. Herald failed to sway City Council at the time, so he ran for office. Although he was unsuccessful running at-large, he eventually won the Fourth Ward seat in 2017, which he currently holds.

Regrettably, there is no indication that his beliefs or agenda have changed.

Our ward deserves better. Citizens who want Bowling Green to be a welcoming community should vote Councilman Herald out of office. Why would we want someone representing all of us who thinks it’s acceptable to discriminate against any of us?
