BGSU mourns death of student Jordan Nichols

Jordan Nichols, a third-year student in the College of Education and Human Development, died on Sunday, Aug. 27, according to a statement released by BGSU President Rodney Rogers today and reported on The Morning Show BG’s Facebook page.

Nichols was the daughter of Eric Nichols, the head coach of the BGSU Men’s Soccer team.

Jordan Nichols was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the intervention specialist program. “She is remembered as a smart, kind and caring young woman with a beautiful spirit who loved working with children of all ages and abilities, touching many lives with her compassion and patience,” Rogers wrote.

She was active in the community and the American Sign Language club and enjoyed volunteering at Bittersweet Farms.

She is survived by her father and her mother, Marianne, and brothers Kale, also a BGSU student, and Braden.

Condolences to her family can be sent to sympathy@bgsu.edu, and the university will deliver them.

Students may contact the Counseling Center to connect with counselors, who are available both remotely and in person, to help them cope. Faculty and staff may also receive support through the University’s Employee Assistance Program.
