Seventeen of the top athletes in the United States representing seven different states were in Northwest Ohio to compete for a National Championship in the sport of Curling. Fresh off the excitement from the Olympics, the competitive curling season continued with the first National Championship to be held at the Black Swamp Curling Center since it opened as a dedicated facility for the Bowling Green Curling Club just over five years ago.

“The Club in Bowling Green has friendly people and really good fast ice,” said Skip Debbie Aubrey from Coyotes Curling Club (Tempe, AZ). “We are excited to be here and to compete for the Championship.”

Team Smith won the gold medal and will now go on to represent the USA in the World Senior Curling Championships 2022 (23 April-30 April 2022) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Team Lawless won the silver and Team Aubrey took the bronze.

If the name Shelley’s Dropkin sounds familiar, that is because Shelley’s son Korey Dropkin is the skip for Team Dropkin who lost a heartbreaker to Team Schuster in the US Olympic Team Trials. Dropkin lost to Shuster propelling them back into the Olympics to defend the Gold in Beijing just a couple of weeks ago. Shuster and Team USA went on to finish in 4th place at the 2022 Olympics.
