Bradner celebrates village and fire department anniversaries, July 17-18

BRADNER—“Journey Through Time” is the theme of the Village of Bradner’s July 17-18 celebration for the town’s 150th anniversary and the fire department’s 132nd anniversary, July 17-18.  

The festivities start on Friday, July 17, at 5 p.m., when the beer tent opens until 11 p.m. A Name That Tune event will run from 7 to 9:30 p.m., followed by DJ music until 11 p.m.

Kids’ activities are planned both days from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be bounce houses and games.

Saturday, July 18, offers a full day of activities, starting with the Bradner Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Car Show. Registration is from 8-11 a.m.; the show fee is $10. The car show runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with awards for Best of Show and Mayor’s and Fire Chief’s Choice announced at 2:30 p.m.

Breakfast will be available at the fire station and food vendors will be on site. All proceeds will go to the new fire station fund. For more information about the car show, contact Chief Tom at 419-346-0795.

Simultaneously, there will be a craft show from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and horse and wagon rides available from noon to 2 p.m.

The 150th Anniversary Parade lines up at the corner of Lightner Street at 3 p.m. The parade will start at 3:30 p.m.

Parade organizers are seeking participants for the parade in any of the following categories: Church, Military, Band, Business, Dance Group, Politician, Color Guard and Other.   To register, provide the name of the business or organization, contact name and information, and description of the unit, and send to Linda Wildman, 516 E. The beer tent will be open on Saturday from 5-11 p.m. with two local bands scheduled to perform. Papateague will perform from 5 to 8 p.m. followed by C.O.D.A Classic Rock from 8 to 11 p.m.

A bicycle giveaway is planned on Saturday at 7 p.m. Two bikes, donated by Frank’s Fries, will be given away in each of four age groups.
