The full closure of Interstate 475 North between Interstate 75 and U.S. Route 24 is postponed this weekend due to forecasted rain.
Northbound I-475 will remain open north of I-75 through the Perrysburg area, including all ramps to and from the interstates.
The second closure of northbound I-475 for right lane paving is expected to occur next weekend, Aug. 7 – 10, weather permitting.
Ass much as four inches of driving surface is being removed on mainline I-475 to complete the work, creating a significant pavement drop-off. This exceeds ODOT standards to safely maintain traffic; thus, a full closure of the interstate is necessary. The full closure also reduces the overall time needed for the repairs from several months to several weekends.
The repairs are part of a project that is resurfacing I-75 and I-475 near the Perrysburg interchange in Wood County, and I-475 from I-75 to the Maumee River.
The repairs are necessary maintenance until a proposed project on I-475 through Perrysburg takes place. The project would widen I-475 from I-75 in Wood County to U.S. Route 24 in Lucas County to three lanes; widen and reconstruct the I-475 bridges over the CSX Railroad, Fort Meigs Road, and Maumee River; reconstruct the I-75/I-475 and I-475/U.S. 24 interchanges; and realign the I-475/SR 25 interchange.
The project is not yet funded. The earliest the project could occur is 2032.
