Connie Jean Miller, age 65, from Bowling Green, Ohio passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023. She was born in Wauseon, Ohio on April 4, 1958 to Milton and Christine Cole.
She was preceeded in death by her father, Milton Cole, and her sister Cynthia Cole. She is survived by her mother, Christine Cole, her 5 children; Johnny Miller II, Christy Scarberry, Tricia Miller, Mark Miller, and Jessica Miller, 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 2 sisters, and her best friend of nearly 50 years, Sandy K.
Connie worked for The Crafts for the past 24 years. She dedicated 11 years to Ben Franklin, managing the candy counter. One of her dreams was to run a quilt shop. With the assistance from The Crafts and her love and infinite knowledge of quilting, and everything needle, thread, yarn and sewing related, she successfully moved on to create and manage The Busy Thimble in downtown Bowling Green, Ohio since its opening in 2010.
She won many awards for her hand stitched quilts at The Wood County Fair, and taught many how to keep the art alive.
Much like the countless quilts she hand stitched, she was her very own quilt. A woman that many found comfort in knowing and loving. Every quilt she handmade, represented a piece of her life, from her youth and into adulthood. The end result can only be described as the pieces of her heart. With every stitch, she stitched the love she had for everyone she ever cared for. Words cannot express how much she will truly be missed. She has stitched a mark on each of our hearts, for which we will be forever grateful for.
As a tribute to Connie, her children are making a memorial quilt in her honor. Anyone who wishes to may contribute to the quilt; whether it be a 6.5″ x 6.5″ square, materials, and/or time piecing it together. More information regarding the quilt will be available at Connie’s celebration of life, The Busy Thimble, and at Ben Franklin.
A celebration of life will be held in Needle Hall at BG City Park on July 30th from 2pm to 6pm.
