David Hayes, 56, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away on October 21, 2026. David was born in Boiling Springs, NC on April 30, 1970, to Terry Richard and Susan (Starks) Hayes. He later served his country in the United States Air Force and earned his bachelor’s degree at Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, WV. He married Emily K. Stanton on May 27, 2000, in Toledo, OH. David and Emily had three children and have celebrated over 26 years of marriage.
David worked as an Internet Security Analyst for Bowling Green State University for 19 years. He enjoyed baking biscuits, breads, cookies and pies; a skill he learned from his loving mother, Susan. He was known for his famous smoked brisket and baked salmon. Sharing a good meal with those he loved was his joy. David and Emily grew enormous fruit and vegetable gardens, canned, raised chickens and turkeys, and found joy in their country homestead together. They both loved musicals and on their first date, David took Emily to see Les Misérables. All these years later, this memory is so dear that they named their pet golden retriever, Cosette. David was Emily’s comforter, spiritual leader, and deepest love. Their pride and joy are their three children. From the time they were old enough to listen, David read the Bible and prayed with them daily. He hoped they would follow Jesus all the days of their lives and they have chosen that path. The hole that is left in our hearts will never be filled this side of Heaven, but we have great peace knowing that we will meet again when the Lord calls us home.
In addition to his wife Emily, David is survived by his children: Noelle Hayes, Matthew Hayes, and Isabelle Hayes all of Perrysburg. Mother, Susan Hayes of WV, and sister, Rachel Hayes of WV. David was preceded in death by his father, maternal grandparents, Carl and Dorothea Starks, paternal grandparents, Forest Gayle and Edna Belle Hayes, father-in-law, Michael Stanton, and mother-in-law, Leslie Hafner.
