Join the Bowling Green Arts Council (BGAC) for the inaugural lecture in its new speaker series “An Evening With…” when musicians Keri Lee Pierson and Christopher Schoelen of Deux Saisons discuss “Networking for Artists” on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 6-8 p.m., at the Black Swamp Players Theatre, 115 Oak St.

The award-winning voice and guitar duo will lead a discussion around ways of networking, tips for the best communication, and “friend-raising.” There will also be a musical performance and tours of the Black Swamp Players’ new space.

This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

“As entrepreneurial musicians we often have to create our own opportunities,” said Schoelen. “Networking and ‘friend-raising’ help us do this.”

“Networking is one of the most important aspects of our jobs, both as performers and teachers,” added Pierson. “Like any skill, it is something that needs to be practiced.”

Pierson is a classically trained contemporary musician and music educator seeking a doctor of musical arts at Bowling Green State University, where she teaches and performs frequently. Schoelen is a classical guitarist with a doctorate in guitar performance from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree from the New England Conservatory.

“We are very excited to offer this new series for the arts community in Bowling Green,” said Robin Gerrow, president of the BGAC. “This will be a great opportunity for artists to network and learn from each other.”

The Black Swamp Players’ new home on Oak St. opened in 2021. More information on the Black Swamp Players is available at onthestage.tickets/black-swamp-players.
