Ellen Janette Schaller, 88 of Maumee passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday October 16, 2016 at the Lakes of Monclova. Ellen was born March 26, 1928 in Monclova Ohio to Ola and Harry Phipps and graduated from Monclova High School in 1946. She married Larry Schaller November 17, 1950.
An active member in Lucas County Farm Bureau, Business and Professional Women’s Foundation, Waterville United Methodist Church, and Waterville Historical Society. Ellen brightened the lives of many customers of First National Bank in Waterville where she worked for 25 years. Ellen enjoyed golf, volleyball and tennis. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and cheering for the Ohio State Buckeye’s and watching any televised sporting events. Along with a busy luncheon schedule with many close friends she developed over the years, Ellen enjoyed travel overseas to places like Australia, Spain, Ireland and Europe.
Ellen is survived by sister Bess Ramlow, brother Harry (Bus) Phipps. Daughters Lesley (George) Riker of Bowling Green, Lynn Schaller of Indianapolis, Son’s Marc Schaller of Bowling Green and Matt (Heather) Schaller of Lebanon, Indiana. Grandchildren Kaitlin, Karlyn and Logan Riker, Maggie and Jack Schaller and Mason and Reid Schaller.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brother Obra (Bud) Phipps, Sisters Juanita (Skeeter) Sears, Lela Whitwham, Ena Church and Lillian Martin.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm Wednesday October 26th at Peinert Funeral Home, 7220 Dutch Road, Waterville, Ohio. A private ceremony will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, Waterville.
