First Christian Church to host free monthly drive-thru community meal

From FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH

On Friday, April 10, from 5 – 6 p.m., First Christian Church, 875 Haskins Road, Bowling Green, will host its monthly drive-thru community meal and food distribution. Those who are experiencing food insecurity are encouraged to participate in this free meal. Participants are also encouraged to pick up a limited number of groceries, toiletries, breads, and pastries, at no charge.

To participate, arrive between 5 – 6 p.m. at the FCC parking lot and remain in the car. Volunteers will take orders, hand deliver meals, and direct people to the groceries and toiletries. There will be no early entry for the shopping portion of this event.

St. Thomas More University Parish of Bowling Green and the BG Christian Food Pantry will provide groceries for the food bag distribution. The toiletries pantry will be available this month due to the contributions from First Presbyterian Church and FCC, both of Bowling Green.

Participants are also offered a variety of breads and pastries provided by the BG Christian Food Pantry. Volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Bowling Green provide event help including the distribution of the meals, food bags, and bread and pastries. Funding for additional food items is provided by the City of Bowling Green – Emergency Food Assistance Grant.

Since November 2020, the community meal has been a part of FCC’s food ministry to reduce food insecurity in the community. For questions, contact FCC by calling 419-354-3989 or emailing firstoffice875@gmail.com. Details can also be found on the FCC Facebook page.
