Native plants featured in the Wood County Park District's northwest Ohio native plant guide.

From CITY OF BOWLING GREEN

The city of Bowling Green is partnering with the Friends of the Wood County Parks to provide plant vouchers for residents to use at the parks’ spring native plant sale. Each voucher is redeemable for one plant up to a value of $7.

Homeowners are allowed to redeem up to five vouchers per Bowling Green address and resident at the sale, per the city’s discretion. These vouchers can be redeemed upon check-out and are applicable exclusively to the Friends of Wood County Parks Native Plant Sale.

To claim vouchers, visit the City Administration Building, Public Works Department from now until Friday, May 1. People can also visit the city’s booth at the Wood County Plant Exchange at the Wood County Fairgrounds on Sunday, April 26, from 9 – 10 a.m. Those interested can also come to the Community Earth Day Celebration on April 19, from 2 – 4 p.m., at 515 Sand Ridge Road.

A limited number of vouchers, as well as plants, are available, so acting early is encouraged.

The spring native plant sale hosted by the Friends of the Wood County Parks takes place Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the Wood County Fairgrounds, Champion Building, 13800 W. Poe Road, Bowling Green. The sale will include various native plants and shrubs and is open to all.

Managed natural landscapes improve stormwater retention, increase water quality and biodiversity of plants, birds, butterflies, and other beneficial insects and species.
