From OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
The Ohio Department of Transportation is closing Interstate 475 southbound between U.S. 24 and Ohio 25 beginning tonight, May 8, and through the weekend to repair failing concrete joints beneath the roadway.
Southbound I-475 will close south of Route 24 on Friday, beginning after 8 p.m., and remain closed until Monday morning, May 11, at 6 a.m. Traffic will be detoured to I-475 northbound to Interstate 75.
These are the first of several complete closures of I-475 for pavement joint repair that will occur over multiple weekends. Additional closures are scheduled for the weekends of May 15 – 18; May 29 – June 1; and June 5 – 8.
The following ramps will be closed tonight through Monday morning:
- Southbound I-475 on-ramp from Dussel Drive/Salisbury Road
- Southbound I-475 on-ramp from U.S. 20A
- Southbound I-475 on-ramp from Route 24
- Ramp from I-475 east/south to I-75 north toward downtown Toledo
Following this weekend’s work, a new merge configuration will be in place on the eastbound I-475 ramp to northbound I-75. The current configuration has motorists on I-475 merging right prior to joining I-75. After the change, motorists will merge left on the ramp prior to joining I-75 in efforts to improve safety in the area.
Message boards are posted south of each interchange throughout the I-475/U.S. 23 corridor informing motorists of this event.
