Lloyd James (Jim) Novotny, 89, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. He was born on October 16, 1936, in Clay Center, Ohio to the late Lloyd F. (Bud) and Mary (Toth) Novotny. He married Wendy (Bostdorf) Novotny on October 12, 1968, and she preceded him in death on June 6, 2020.
Jim started school in a two-room schoolhouse before graduating from Genoa HS and BGSU. He began his early career as a high school teacher of math, chemistry and physics. He then went on to manage White Rock Quarry for Ed Kramer & Sons for more than 25 years.
He was an avid and passionate rock, coin and stamp collector. In 1964, he co-created a small, but nationally known company called Artopage Covers, which he ran from home as a hobby. A true philatelist, he printed hand-designed album pages, cachet envelopes and First Day Covers on his antique printing press in his basement.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Ellen, son-in-law Bradley Kellow, and grandchildren, Morgan Kellow and Adam Kellow.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three younger brothers and his loving and devoted wife of more than 50 years.
After a private burial, the family will host a luncheon reception on May 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, Bowling Green, Ohio located at 126 S. Church St.
Donations may be made to the family, the First Presbyterian Church or charity of choice.
