Norman A. Pace, age 88, of Bowling Green, OH, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Bowling Green Manor. He was born on December 21, 1935 to Charles A. and Nora A. (Shoemaker) Pace in Clayton Township, OH. He married JoAnn Fielder in New Lexington, OH, on January 28, 1956. Norman and JoAnn raised 5 children and celebrated over 60 years of marriage together, before JoAnn’s passing in 2016.
Norman worked as an oil pipe layer for Buckeye Pipeline Co, retiring after 42 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a hard worker with a strong work ethic, and his family always remembers him having two jobs whether it was helping others with farming or working in the railyard. In his younger years he enjoyed playing basketball. Nevertheless, being the family man that he was, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren remained his greatest joy.
Norman is survived by his children: Richard “Rick” (VJ) Pace of Milan, OH, Ron (Jane) Pace of Luckey, Randy (Julie) Pace of Bowling Green, Karen Pace of Bowling Green, and Liz Sworden of Bowling Green. 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, along with bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sister, Jane Blizzard of Frazeysburg, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife JoAnn, Norman was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Earl Pace, sister, Peggy Lane, and son-in-law, Doug Sworden.
Family and friends will be received 9-11 a.m., with a funeral service at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH. Officiating will be, Pr. Leroy Sholey. Norman will be laid to rest next to JoAnn in Pemberville Cemetery, Pemberville, OH. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to: The Alzheimer’s Association, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
