Otsego varsity volleyball loses to Lake, JV wins

The Otsego High School varsity volleyball team lost an away game to Lake on Tuesday (9/8), 3-0: 16-25, 12-25, 11-25

Contributing for the Knights were:

  • Reese Genson: 4 kills, 2 block assists
  • Ava Weaver: 2 kills, 1 ace, 7 digs
  • Molly Kramer: 7 digs
  • Alivia Groff: 8 digs, 4 assists

The junior varsity team posted a 2-0 win: 25-14, 25-16

  • Layla Champion: 3 kills, 4 digs
  • Alexis Kelley: 1 kill, 5 aces, 9 digs

In middle school action at Oak Harbor, the 8th grade team won 2-1: 20-25, 25-19, 25-21, and the 7th grade team won 2-0: 25-18, 25-23.

The Knights return home Thursday (9/10) vs Maumee. The JV and freshmen start at 5 p.m., with varsity to follow.

Otsego varsity volleyball posts comeback win against Genoa

The Otsego Knights varsity volleyball team hosted Genoa Thursday (9/3) and posted a 3-2 win after five sets: 22-25, 25-17, 20-25, 25-17, 15-7.

Top contributors for the Knights were:

  • Autumn Mag: 6 kills, 2 solo blocks, 3 block assists

The JV team won 2-1: 18-25, 25-13, 25-22.

In middle school action at Swanton on Thursday (9/3), the 8th grade won 2-0: 26-24, 25-15, and the 7th grade won 2-0: 25-15, 25-15.

Otsego volleyball falls to BG; posts clean sweep at Fostoria

The Otsego volleyball program posted its first clean sweep of the season in matches at Fostoria on Tuesday (9/1).

The varsity team won 3-0: 25-10, 25-20, 25-18

On Monday (8/31), Otsego varsity volleyball lost 3-0—14-25, 17-25, 12-25— to a very talented Bowling Green team.

Leading Otsego were Bella Simon with 5 kills, 1 solo block, 3 block assists, 1 dig; Ashlyn Rider with 2 aces, 2 digs, 6 assists; and Alivia Groff with 1 kill, 3 digs, 7 assists.

JV won against BG 2-1: 25-23, 20-25, 25-23

Otsego volleyball falls to Tinora

Tough battles for the Otsego High School volleyball teams at Tinora Thursday (8/27).


The varsity team lost 3-0: 23-25, 23-25, 23-25.  Contributing for the Knights were:

The Knights return home on Monday for a cross-town rivalry with Bowling Green. The freshman and JV teams start simultaneously at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity.

The Otsego High School volleyball teams all recorded wins in matches at Liberty Center on Tuesday (8/25).

Winning 3-1 against Liberty Center, the varsity team’s scores were 25-19, 25-14, 24-26, 29-27.

The Otsego Varsity volleyball team lost in three straight sets to Leipsic on Saturday (8/22). Leipsic won3-0: 12-25, 18-25, 15-25
For Otsego, Sophia Borer had 1 ace, 8 digs, 2 assists; Ashlyn Rider had 8 digs, 5 assists; Bella Simon had 3 kills, 2 block assists, 3 digs, 1 assist; and Autumn Mag had 3 kills, 1 solo block, 3 block assists.

The Junior Varsity team won 2-0: 25-19, 26-24
For Otsego, Eliza Scott had 4 kills, 1 block assist, 2 aces, 3 digs; Addisson Smith had 1 kill, 2 solo blocks, 2 block assists, 4 digs; Alexis Kelley had 2 kills, 1 block assist, 9 digs; and Callie Hartman had 1 kill, 2 aces, 8 digs, 6 assists.

The teams are on the road at Elmwood High on Monday, with the freshmen starting at 4:30 p.m.

Freshman volleyball team moves to 2-0 record

The Otsego High School freshman volleyball team improved their record to 2-0 with a victory over Tiffin Columbian on Wednesday (8/19). The Knights won 2-0: 25-0, 25-14.

For Otsego, Setter Charlie Keim served a perfect 25-0 set in the 1st set. She also had 1 kill, 11 assists, 13 aces, and 2 digs. Also for the Knights, Kaylee Bechstein had 4 kills, 1 ace, 3 digs; Taylor Langham had 3 kills, 1 ace; and Maci Fackler had 1 kill, 3 aces, 4 digs.

Otsego High School volleyball opens season with three team victories

All three Otsego volleyball teams opened the season with victories on Tuesday (8/18) at Wauseon.

The freshman team won 2-1: 23-25, 25-4, 25-15. For the freshman team, Jamie Donald recorded 6 kills; Layla Champion—5 kills, 8 digs, 1 ace; Charlie Keim—15 assists, 7 digs; and Peyton McKinney—9 digs, 4 aces.

The junior varsity team won 2-0: 25-21, 25-20. For the JV team, Greylin Durbin had 4 kills, 1 solo block, 2 digs; Mayah Gonzales—1 assist, 9 digs, 5 aces; and Callie Hartman recorded 15 assists, 2 aces, 6 digs.

The Varsity won 3-1: 25-23, 19-25, 25-13, 25-17. Bella Simon recorded 13 kills, 3 block assists, 1 dig; Autumn Mag-–9 kills, 3 block assists; Alivia Groff—22 assists, 6 digs, 1 ace; and Molly Kramer—3 assists, 17 digs.

The Knights travel to Leipsic Saturday (8/22) morning.
