Phyllis E Hartwell

Phyllis E. Hartwell, 84, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away on Thursday December 19, 2024. She was born on February 3, 1940, to the late John and Alice (Bevier) Host in Wheeling, West Virginia. She married Ted Hartwell on August 4, 1962, and he survives in Bowling Green.

Phyllis received a degree in education in 1962 from The Ohio State University. She taught for 32 years at several schools around the area. She started her teaching career at Lima City Schools in 1962, Lake local school district in 1963, and retired from Patrick Henry schools in 1993. Her dedication to teaching led her retirement to be short. She started working for the Northwest Ohio Education Media program at Bowling Green State University from 1993 to 2009. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green, PEO Sorority, BGSU Women’s Club, International Chapter of P.E.O. and Sisterhood Chapter AA. In Phyllis’s free time she enjoyed gardening, playing bridge and traveling. Her most memorable trips being to Europe, Barbados and Fiji.

Along with her loving husband Ted, Phyllis is survived by her sons Andrew (Theresa) Hartwell of Alexandria, Virginia, Matt (Babette) Hartwell of Holland, Ohio, brother Robert (Vicki) Wood of New Philadelphia, Ohio, treasured grandchildren A.J. and Sammy.

Along with her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her granddaughter Morgan.

A celebration of life service for Phyllis will be announced at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home located in the Historical District of Bowling Green, Ohio at 408 W. Wooster St.
