Public Utilities Commission of Ohio issues special reconnect order for winter heating season

From COLUMBIA GAS OF OHIO

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio has issued the 2026-27 special reconnect order. From now though April 16, Columbia Gas of Ohio customers can reconnect service or avoid disconnection for non-payment during the winter heating season for $175, plus any applicable reconnection fee. If service has already been disconnected, the special reconnect order requires an additional reconnections fee of up to $36.

Customers who take advantage of the special reconnect order program must establish a payment plan for their outstanding balance and are only able to use the program once per utility.

Stay safe

It’s important to be safe throughout the winter heating season and year-round. People are encouraged to check their carbon monoxide detectors regularly and replace batteries when needed. Don’t use stoves, ovens, or grills to heat homes. Keep flammables away from heaters. Use a broom to gently clear snow and ice around vents and meters.

If someone believes they smell natural gas, they should stop what they are doing, leave the area immediately, and call Columbia Gas at 1-800-344-4077.
