Rape, sexual battery, gross sexual imposition charges dropped against BG teen

Rape charges have been dismissed against a Bowling Green teen.

During the trial in Wood County Juvenile Court on July 21, four of the five charges against the 18-year-old were dismissed.

Prior to the trial, the teen admitted to the charge of underage consumption and the state dismissed a second alcohol-related charge, according to Bridget Ansberg, executive director at the juvenile court.

After witnesses testified and evidence was presented, the court dismissed the rape and gross sexual imposition charges. The sexual battery charge was dismissed after the trial, Ansberg said.

After being dismissed with prejudice in April, charges against the teen were refiled in May.

According to court records, on Nov. 2 the teen was accused of engaging in sexual conduct with another minor at a party after allegedly impairing that person’s judgment or control with alcohol and marijuana.

Multiple Bowling Green High School students attended the party, where alcohol and marijuana were reportedly made available by an adult, who has been charged. After the party, the allegation of a sexual assault was reported.
