Retired Rossford chief of police says Paul Dobson’s compassion for victims set a ‘great example’

I am writing to support Paul Dobson for Wood County Common Pleas Judge.

I have known Paul for over 30 years. We first met when he was assigned as the prosecutor on my first felony case. The defendant was charged with domestic violence, and the victim in the case sustained serious physical injuries. Paul refused to take a plea in the case and took it to trial. The defendant was found guilty and did prison time for the offense.

That case introduced me to how much Paul cares about victims of violent crimes. I still recall how his compassion for the victim put her at ease through a very traumatic time. His professionalism, fairness, and unwillingness to take the easy route to a plea agreement, set a great example for me to follow during my career.

I believe those qualities are important in a common pleas judge, because victims sometimes get lost in the shuffle of a case. It takes a special person to balance the complexities of a criminal prosecution with the emotions and trauma that others involved go through.

Based on my experience with Paul, I believe he has the experience, character, judgement, and compassion necessary to serve the citizens of Wood County well. I will be voting for Paul Dobson, and encourage other Wood County voters to support him as well.
