Rose M Muniz

Rose M. Muniz, 82, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of those who meant so much to her.

Rose was born on February 26, 1944, to the late Micaela (Hiracheta) Martinez and Federico Martinez. She married the love of her life, Leonel F. Muniz, on October 20, 1962. Together, they built a life centered around love, family, faith, and countless cherished memories. Leonel preceded her in death on March 23, 2000.

Rose was a faithful member of St. Richard Catholic Church in Swanton, where her Catholic faith was a deeply important part of her life.

Rose dedicated 30 years of her working life to Rexam (formerly American Can) factory, where she worked as a Palletizer Operator before retiring. After retirement, Rose embraced the opportunity to travel and see more of the world. She enjoyed memorable trips to London, Madrid, The Vatican, Germany, and New Mexico, creating experiences and stories that she treasured.

Those who knew Rose will remember her for her warm heart, generous spirit, and love of bringing people together. She especially enjoyed hosting “Chalupa” Mexican-style bingo, where laughter, fun, and fellowship were always plentiful. She was also a wonderful cook who took great pleasure in preparing meals for the people she loved.

But above all else, Rose cherished her family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with them, sharing meals, laughter, stories, and the simple moments that became treasured memories.

Rose is survived by her daughter Nancy (Jerry Wilson) Strayer of Swanton, Ohio, Anthony (Kathy) Muniz of Bowling Green, Ohio, Francisco (Yazmin Chong) Muniz of Odenton, Maryland, her brother Leo Martinez of Toledo, Ohio, Clyde Martinez of Toledo, Ohio and her 6 cherished grandchildren Marissa, Jordan, Francisco Jr., Leandra, Benito and Sofia.

Along with her loving husband Leonel, Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Francisco Martinez, and sisters Guadalupe Rocha, and Lorena Camarillo.

A private graveside service will be held with the family at St. Richards Cemetery, Swanton, Ohio. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home Whitehouse, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Richards Catholic Church.
