Sandusky County crash claims life of Pemberville man

A Pemberville man died early Friday morning in a wo-vehicle crash on Route 20 in Sandusky County.

The Fremont Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol as called to Milepost 24 in Green Creek Township at approximately 6:41 a.m. March 17.

According to the patrol, a  blue 2012 Kenworth T6 Series semi-truck, driven by John G. Ketteman Jr, age 56, of Britton Michigan, was stopped northbound in a gas station and was attempting to make a left turn onto US 20. A 2011 dark green Toyota Camry, driven by Donald M. Eckel, 74, of Pemberville, was eastbound in the right lane of US 20. 

Ketteman Jr. pulled into the path of Eckel.

Eckel sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. Ketteman was not injured. 

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, Clyde Fire Department, Sandusky County Life Squads 15 and 18, Sandusky County Coroner’s Office, Triple J’s Towing, and Interstate Towing.

Alcohol and drug impairment do not appear to be factors. The crash remains under

investigation.
