Sheriff’s office to increase traffic patrols over holidays

Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn announced Wednesday that the sheriff’s office will be conducting increased patrols over the Christmas and New Year’s holiday thanks to grant funding from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office. This blitz will continue through Jan. 1, 2021.

Deputies will pay particular attention for violations such as driving under the influence, failure to yield and speeding – all of which are leading factors in fatal crashes, according to the sheriff’s office. There will be zero tolerance for driving under the influence and seat belt violations.
