From Wood County Educational Service Center
This summer, with the support of United Way, and in collaboration with Bowling Green City School District, the Wood County Educational Service Center: Community Learning Center of Bowling Green STARS program is bringing 40 of their Summer STARS children to the Big Fab Lab Makerspace at the Woodland Mall.
On June 8, 15 and 22, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., and June 29 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., STARS students will have the opportunity to complete STEM activities, including glider building, rocket shooting and egg parachuting in a fun and exciting environment. This four-day experience culminates with the children having dinner with family at the Big Fab Lab Makerspace on June 29 while showcasing their creations.
The Community Learning Centers of the Wood County Educational Service Center provide enrichment and extended learning activities for elementary children, grades K-5. The daily before-school, after-school and summer STARS programs engage children in fun learning experiences that complement their school-day instruction.
Activities include Challenge Centers engaging children in sequenced, progressive activities designed to build increased understanding skills and accomplishments in eight content areas: arts, cultural studies and global learning, health and safety, math and problem solving, motor skills, reading and writing, science, service projects and learning and character building.
Before-school STARS hours are from 6:30 a.m. until school begins at seven locations: Bowling Green’s Crim and Kenwood, Eastwood, Elmwood, Northwood, Rossford and Woodmore.
