Tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to honor Ryan Wichman

Ryan Wichman works on slide in September for the inclusive playground at Carter Park.

Ryan Wichman, the impetus behind the new inclusive playground at Carter Park in Bowling Green, has been selected to be awarded the Drum Major for Peace Award.

On Monday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m., the City of Bowling Green Human Relations Commission will host the 34th annual tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event will be held virtually on the City of Bowling Green’s YouTube Live channel – www.bgohio.org/meetings.

During this event, the Drum Major for Peace Award will be presented. This award is given to someone who benefits the BG community and exemplifies the teaching and the values of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. — courage, truth, justice, compassion, dignity, humility and service.

The tribute will feature keynote speaker Katie Bochi, a NICU speech-language pathologist and active member of the Wood County Plays steering committee. Various musical selections will be performed by Mike Williams on saxophone and BGSU Music College Faculty Ariel Kasler.
