Warrant issued for BG man for alleged domestic violence and strangulation

Bowling Green Police Division responded to a report of domestic violence and strangulation on Monday, around 1 a.m., at a house in the 300 block of Derby Avenue.

The alleged victim told officers that she and Paul Briner Jr., 40, of Bowling Green, had been Christmas shopping. When they returned to her home, Briner reportedly got angry about the woman singing to a song on the radio. He ran from the home, and she followed, hoping to get the Christmas presents out of his pickup.

After she opened the door to get the gifts out, Briner allegedly slammed the door and grabbed the woman by the throat. The woman told police she started to blackout, and officers noted red marks on her neck.

A warrant was issued for Briner’s arrest.

Later on Monday, the woman told police she had changed her mind and did not want to press charges. She stated that Briner already has enough charges against him, including one from the last time he was at her home on Oct. 27, when he was arrested for an altercation.

Officers went to neighbors in the area with security cameras at their homes. They were able to obtain video of the incident, reportedly showing Briner choking the woman, so police can pursue charges.
