N.B. library’s View & Chew features ‘Omni Loop,’ March 19
The North Baltimore Public Library’s View & Chew free movie series will screen “Omni Loop,” starring Mary Louise Parker Wednesday, March 19 with a start time of 6 p.m. at The Virginia Theater, 119 N. Main St., North Baltimore.
The story follows a quantum physicist who finds herself stuck in a time loop with a black hole growing in her chest and only a week to live. When she meets a gifted student, they team up to save her life and unlock the mysteries of time travel.
The theater doors will open at 5:30 pm. Concessions will be available for purchase.
See a show & buy a pie at Black Swamp Players’ fundraiser, March 14-16
The Black Swamp Players will stage a special fundraising performance “Murder at the Pie Auction,” Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the troupe’s home at 115 E. Oak St. Each performance will feature a live pie auction.
The cast members are: Beth Parker, Betsy Herman, Eve Barman, Rebecca Williams, Trevor Walsh, Emily Harel, Rachel Hetrick, Justin Michael Newcomb, Steve Bishop, Wendie Kiskaddon, Melanie Missler, Skylar Tauber, and Emily Standinger. Liam Ellis is director.

The Players first presented the Michael Druce show for a single performance in October 2019.
Graduating seniors exhibit their art in BFA show opening March 15
The Bachelor of Fine Arts exhibit will open with an awards ceremony and reception Saturday, March 15, at 6 p.m. in the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery in the School of Art.
The exhibit, which runs until March 29, features work of graduating senior art students.
Gallery hours are Wednesday – Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Toledo Symphony shines spotlight on young talent, March 15
The Toledo Symphony Orchestra will welcome young musicians to the Peristyle stage Saturday, March 15, at 2 p.m.
The concert will feature Young Artist Competition winners, violinist Isaac Weese, violinist LyAnn Samkari, and pianist Elsa Klaas as soloists in the first half.
After the intermission, young musicians from around the area will perform side-by-side with the Toledo Symphony members.
Toledo Jazz Orchestra performs ‘Porgy & Bess,” March 15
The Toledo Jazz Orchestra, conducted by Alain Trudel, will perform “Porgy and Bess – The Miles Davis Album” Saturday March 15 at 8 p.m. in the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle. Click for tickets.
Originally released as a studio album in 1959, Miles Davis’s Porgy and Bess showcases visionary arrangements by Gil Evans of George Gershwin’s 1935 opera. The set features classic melodies such as “Summertime,” “Bess, You Is My Woman Now,” and “It Ain’t Necessarily So.”
‘Cowgirls, Rodeo, and Rural Feminism’ theme of BGSU talk, March 18
Dr. Tracey Hanshew, of Eastern Oregon University, will deliver a Women’s History Month Guest Lecture “Cowgirls, Rodeo, and Rural Feminism, 1890 – 1935” Tuesday, March 18, 4-5:30 p.m. in room 206 of the Bowen Thompson Student Union on the BGSU campus
Hanshew will present her research on rural women in the American West. She will explore the iconic cowgirl image and its significant roles within the Western genre. This topic will resonate with enthusiasts of popular culture, sports, performance, feminism, and American history alike.
This free public lecture is presented by the Department of History at BGSU.
Village Players staging film noir spoof ‘The Thirty-Nine Steps,’ March 28 through April 6
The Village Players Theatre is staging the comic thriller “The Thirty-Nine Steps,” weekends March 28 through April 6 at the Village Players Theatre, 2740 Upton Ave., Toledo.
Showtimes are: Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29th at 7 p.m. with a Sunday matinee March 30 at 2 p.m. and continuing Thursday, April 3, Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 6 at 2 p.m.

The cast features: Ryan Albrecht, Leigh Yenrick, John Toth, and Andrew Packard, playing more than 150 characters.
“The 39 Steps” mixrs a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel with a dash of Monty Python. The plot includes an onstage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers, and some good old-fashioned romance. A riotous spoof that is equal parts slapstick comedy and film noir thriller.
Author & actor Paterson Joseph’s library talk rescheduled to April 17
Noted British actor and author Paterson Joseph’s talk has been rescheduled to Thursday, April 17 at 7 p.m. in the Wood County District Public library atrium in Bowling Green. The event was originally scheduled for April 10.
Joseph will talk about his debut novel “The Secret Diaries of Charles Ignatius Sancho”
The novel is based on the true story of the first Black person to vote in Britain,and who the fight to end slavery. Story. “The Secret Diaries” begins on a slave ship in the Atlantic and ends at the very center of London life. Joseph channels the writing style of the day and draws diaries to give voice to his interior life.

Library holds monthly craft sessions
Monthly crafting sessions are on Fridays at 2 p.m. in the second Floor Meeting Room at the Wood County District Public Library in Bowling Gree.
Each month will be a different craft suitable for beginners and craft enthusiasts alike.
Sessions planned are:

Library hosts monthly graphic novel discussion for kids
Students aged 5-11 and up are invited to a book discussion about some favorite early reader graphic novels at WCDPL Mondays at 6 p.m. once a month in The Children’s Place.
Copies of the graphic novel for each month are available for checkout from the Bowling Green Library.

Just Baby ‘N Me storytimes at library on Tuesdays
Just Baby ‘N Me is a lap-sit storytime ideal for babies. This unique storytime will be on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.in The Children’s Place at the Bowling Green Library.
This lap-sit storytime is great for babies from birth through early walkers (12 months). The focus during storytime is on rhymes, songs, finger plays, and exploring short books together, and is meant to facilitate interaction between you and your baby to develop their language and early literacy skills.
Library hosting Fiber Friends Creative Circle on Tuesdays
The Wood County District Public Library is hosting Fiber Friends Creative Circle on Tuesdays at 10 beginning in the 2nd Floor meeting room.
Fiber Friends is a fun and social program that meets to chat and create. People of all skill levels are welcome. Even if ysomeone has never picked up knitting needles or a crochet hook, this group can teach the basic skills to get started on your newest hobby.
