From WOOD COUNTY MUSEUM

The Wood County Museum will host its annual foam turkey drop fundraising event on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 12:30 p.m., in the parking lot of the museum. Participants do not need to be present to win. The drop will be limited to 300 foam turkeys. Turkeys will be sold until noon on Nov. 5 or until sold out. Former WTOL anchor Jerry Anderson will be the emcee for the event.

Participants can purchase a foam turkey for $50 each. Foam turkeys can be purchased online, at the museum, or on location the day of the event before the drop, while supplies last. To go along with the theme, the museum will have turkey dogs available for lunch for a donation during the event.

A Toledo Aerial Media drone will drop numbered foam turkeys in the museum parking lot. The six foam turkeys closest to the target will win prizes.

There will be two targets and two of each cash prize:

  • First closest to target: $1,000
  • Second closest to target: $750
  • Third closest to target: $500

There will also be various other non-cash prizes, including frozen turkeys.

In the case of inclement weather, the turkey drop will be rescheduled.

The proceeds will go to the Wood County Historical Society to help support educational programs, future exhibits, and collections management.
