From WOOD COUNTY PARK DISTRICT
The Slippery Elm Trail Resurfacing Project is beginning. The Slippery Elm Trail will remain open during this project. Sections undergoing construction will be closed for at least 24 hours. We are advising additional caution to trail users, especially at milled intersections. Please be aware of any closure signs along the trail. We will provide updates as work progresses.
Please read below for next steps happening this month:
- Gerken Paving will start pulling center bollards at each intersection today (June 3) and should be done by the end of day Thursday (June 4). They will use easel signs to control traffic as they work.
- A proof roll will be conducted Friday morning, beginning in North Baltimore heading north to Bowling Green. This will involve driving a loaded dump truck along the length of the trail to determine if there are any soft spots in need of pavement repair.
- Butt joints will be tentatively cut on June 18 and June 19. Temporary signage will be used for maintenance of traffic as they move to each intersection. Butt joints will be milled at each intersection and at all transitions along the trail (side trail connectors, parking lot connections, etc.)
- The required ODOT/LPA bulletin board will be set at Rudolph Bike Park near S.E.T.
- Paving is tentatively planned for Monday, June 22 start, and signage will be out in preparation for the paving work. Gerken estimates 12-13 days of paving.
Thank you for everyone’s patience and understanding, and we look forward to the finished project! For additional information, please contact Andrew Kalmar, Assistant Director, akalmar@wcparks.org.
