Wood County reports 41 new COVID cases since Monday

Wood County is now up to 12,941 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 since last March, according to the Thursday, April 29, update from the Wood County Health Department. That is 41 new cases since the last report on Monday, April 26. 

The county has recorded 217 deaths from COVID since last March, with no new deaths reported since Monday.

A total of 637 local residents have been hospitalized for the coronavirus since last March, with three more being hospitalized since Monday. 

As of Wednesday, a total of 58,823 local residents have gotten at least their first dose of a COVID vaccine. That is 44.97% of the county population. 

Every Thursday, the Wood County Health Department lists “active cases” by ZIP codes. As of this week, there are 8 areas in the county with active cases.

The Perrysburg ZIP code area has the most active cases with 39. The Bowling Green ZIP code area has the next highest number this week, having 33 active cases. Northwood is next with 27, followed by Bradner with 10, Walbridge with 10, North Baltimore with 9, the Wood County section of Fostoria with 6, and Rossford with 5.

The latest COVID numbers reported for schools in the county included 27 students and no staff: 

  • Bowling Green City Schools: 5 students, 0 staff.
  • Eastwood: 3 students, 0 staff.
  • Elmwood: 1 student, 0 staff.
  • Lake: 1 student, 0 staff.
  • Otsego, 3 students, 0 staff.
  • Perrysburg: 8 students, 0 staff.
  • Rossford: 6 students, 0 staff.

Three long-term care facilities in Wood County reported one new employee COVID case at each – Heartland of Perrysburg, SKLD Perrysburg, and St. Clare Commons in Perrysburg.
