NAMI Wood County announces April and May programs

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Wood County announces free programs and events for April and May that include a book club meeting, provider training and a wellness workshop.

Meetings of the Nite Out with NAMI Book Club will be held Tuesday, April 22 and May 6 at 10 a.m. via Zoom. The club will discuss “Emotional First Aid: Healing, Rejection, Guilt, Failure and other Everyday Hurts” by Guy Winch. To register, visit https://namiwoodcounty.org/nite-out-nami/.

NAMI Wood County will offer a NAMI Provider Training on Tuesday, April 29, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. via Zoom.  The free 15-hour training helps healthcare and mental health professionals understand the perspectives of people with mental health conditions and their families. The Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Workshop is a two-day, free-of-charge, self-designed course on identifying your personal wellness tools. The next WRAP workshop is on Thursday, May 1, and Friday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the NAMI Wood County office, 1250 Ridgewood Dr., Bowling Green. NAMI Wood County’s Family and Caregiver support group is available for individuals who have family members, children or loved ones who live with a mental health condition. The support group is peer-led with facilitators who also have loved ones in their lives living with mental health conditions. The group meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Bowling Green office.

Volunteers interested in helping NAMI Wood County have opportunities to get involved as a support group of class facilitator, office volunteer and more, including Chip-In Days, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.
