Years of building up the idea of a centrally located dog park in the city are being put in motion by a demolition project.
The fencing that formerly defined the baseball field at Ridge School is coming down to make way for the Bowling Green Dog Park at Ridge. Board members of Friends of BG Dog Parks and a number of dogs gathered at the site on Friday morning to view the work in progress as Steve Harrington, owner of Toledo Fence, and his crew took the old chain link fencing down.
Within a few weeks, a powder coated black fence will enclose the park which will have separate spaces dedicated for large dogs and smaller dogs.

When asked how she was feeling as she surveyed the scene, Jo Ascunce, an early and tenacious advocate for the park, said “I’m thrilled – and relieved – to be at this point. We are all so excited to see this dream starting to come true.”
Friends of BG Dog Parks is planning a fund drive that will include opportunities to sponsor benches and trees. For more information, visit bgdogparks.org and follow the group on Facebook and Instagram.
