Voting against Pemberville levy will cost more in long run

Point, counter point of the informational tax meeting held last night at the Pemberville Opera House, about 20 people attended. Mayor started off with an in depth slideshow, showing  the history of our cash flow, and the technical questions were answered and explained by the village accountant, Sarah.

It became clear that for all the effort that the village has put forth the need for this increase (10 bucks a week on average), many just don’t get it. The village has a bit more than a year’s funds in reserve till the mandated out flow of money will exceed village income.  When that unfunded checkbook happens the State will come in and take over running things.   You can bet that our water supply will be cut off and we will then get water from Northwest Ohio. Ask your friends in Rossford, Maumee and Perrysburg what their water and sewer cost are,  double what we now pay.

Not to mention our discounted electric rates because we belong to a co-op.  You can bet they will be pulling the fuse on that benefit too.

There is more … but why beat a dead horse? In conclusion:  You can pony up for 10 bucks a week , or hit the daily tax double when we lose control of village services.
