Care Compass Project for caregivers of those with dementia will hold gathering Sept. 3

The Care Compass Project serves as a quarterly network gathering for caregivers and those who may be caregivers in the future. Care Compass is a place to gather information and obtain resources to make the journey of caregiving less stressful. The upcoming session, focusing on estate planning and how to complete advance care directives, will be held in-person and virtually using Zoom on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. at the Wood County Senior Center, 140 S. Grove St., Bowling Green.

The Care Compass Project is free and open to all caregivers and community members but requires pre-registration by calling 1-800-367-4935 or 419-353-5661 or by emailing programs@wccoa.net.

Zoom login information will be given upon registration if requested.

The first 25 Wood County residents to register for the session and who will be attending in-person will receive a lunch sponsored by Brookdale of Bowling Green.

Agenda:

  • 11 a.m. – This session will cover “You Are the Expert!” As people learn successful communication techniques, they may find they want to share those effective approaches with friends. This session will empower individuals to teach people who interact with their loved ones, as well as others dealing with dementia in their own lives. Facilitated by Diana Waugh, RN
  • 12 p.m. – This panel discussion will share information and resources on navigating the dementia journey. Panelists include Izzy Alaniz, MemoryLane Care Services, and Dakota Stone, Alzheimer’s Association of Northwest Ohio.
