The Bowling Green State University Office of Nontraditional and Military Student Services and the University of Toledo Military Service Center invite the community to its third annual “Ruck the Ball” event on Saturday, Oct. 4. The event aims to raise awareness about veteran suicide.
The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Glass Bowl in Toledo and will follow Ohio 25, with law enforcement escorting participants throughout the march. The march will conclude around 5:30 p.m. at Doyt Perry Stadium at BGSU. Participants are not required to complete the entire ruck march and are welcome to walk any distance they feel comfortable with.
The total distance is 22 miles, symbolizing the estimated number of veterans lost to suicide each day.
No uniforms, boots, or weighted ruck sacks are required. Everyone is welcome to participate, and military affiliation is not necessary.
