James B Helmick

James B. Helmick, 79, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away on October 3, 2025. He was born on April 6, 1946, in Elkins, West Virginia, to the late Dickson and Jane (Nethkin) Helmick. He married Linda Brannigan on June 21, 1975, and she survives.

James served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart for his service. Following his military career, he worked for Delphi Packard Electric in tool and die for thirty years, the position from which he retired.

A man of many interests, James was a lifelong fan of motorcycles, particularly Harley-Davidson, and was a lifetime member of the Harley Owners Group. He was also a proud member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1012, Chapter 341 of Cortland, Ohio, as well as a lifetime member of both the Disabled American Veterans and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

He enjoyed playing the banjo, watching westerns, and camping, and had a deep love of road trips and travel—visiting every U.S. state except California, Hawaii, Alaska, and Oregon.

Along with his wife Linda of 50 years, James is survived by his sons Jamie (Donna) Helmick, Cory (Amanda) Helmick, and Jonathan Helmick; sister Jackie (Ken) Perman; sister in-law Beverly Helmick; nieces and nephews; three grandchildren; and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Joseph Helmick.

Services will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
