From WGTE PUBLIC MEDIA

WGTE Public Media is set to debut a new documentary that will examine the history of the Sight Center of Northwest Ohio. For more than a century, the Sight Center of Northwest Ohio has been a symbol of independence, empowerment, and community for people who are blind or visually impaired. This documentary traces the organization’s story from its roots, when the community united to change lives through decades of growth in recreation, industry, rehabilitation, and advocacy.

“It’s hard to pack over 100 years into a 30-minute film, but we’ve captured the essence of our mission of empowering independence and enriching the lives of people who are blind or visually impaired,” said Bowling Green resident Tim Tegge,” executive director of The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio.

Interwoven with memories and personal stories, the documentary highlights the life-changing services offered today and the evolving technology shaping tomorrow. It aims to be a celebration of resilience, community, and a vision that continues to shine brighter into the future.

Nathan Hursh, WGTE senior producer, said, “‘Beyond Sight: A Legacy of Empowerment’ is more than a documentary; it’s a tribute to the resilience of the blind and visually impaired community and the unwavering commitment of the Sight Center of Northwest Ohio. Through sharing their powerful history and life-changing services, we hope to inspire understanding, challenge assumptions, and celebrate the strength found in every step toward independence.”

This documentary chronicles more than a century’s worth of history from The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio.
