From WOOD COUNTY VETERANS SERVICE COMMISSION
The Wood County Veterans Service Commission (VSC) will host its second annual veterans lunch and resource fair on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Junior Fair Building located on the Wood County Fairgrounds. The commission will cover the cost of catered meals for veterans who live or work in Wood County and one guest. Additionally, several agencies and organizations will have tables set up to provide information and resources for veterans and their families. Interested veterans are encouraged to call the Wood County Veterans Service office at 419-354-9147 by Friday, Oct. 24, to register.
From now until Wednesday, Nov. 12, the Wood County Veterans Service Commission is conducting a veterans’ holiday outreach campaign, aimed at maximizing office engagement with veterans. The VSC will provide a $25 Kroger food voucher redeemable at Kroger in Bowling Green. Wood County veterans or their surviving dependent can register and complete an informational session at the office, located at 1940 Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green.
Informational sessions and voucher distribution will take place in the afternoon and evenings of Nov. 4, 6, 10, and 12. To reserve a spot, call the office at 419-354-9147. The session will include a brief presentation, after which veterans will meet individually with office staff to verify their information. Information may include name, date of birth, Social Security number, home address, military service information, and phone number. Veterans should bring valid government identification and their military discharge if one is not already on file at the Wood County Veterans Service Office. The 2025 holiday voucher differs from previous years, as the process will not require a financial assistance application or information about household finances.
On Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m., the Wood County VSC will host an “ODNR – First Cast: Fishing Class.” The class will be about 1.5 – 2 hours in length. There is limited seating. To register, call 419-354-9147.
On Thursday, Nov. 20, at 2:30 p.m. there will be a veterans’ fishing outing at Adam Phillips Pond. To register, call 419-354-9147.
