North Baltimore Library to host author Brandon Weis to talk about ‘Extreme Backcountry Hiking’

From NORTH BALTIMORE PUBLIC LIBRARY

The North Baltimore Public Library will welcome a return appearance by author Brandon Weis to the Wolfe Community Room on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 6:30 p.m. to share a presentation on “Extreme Backcountry Hiking.”

The community is invited to discover the wild beauty of America’s backcountry as Weis shares his journey of a 5,000-mile hiking expedition across some of the country’s most remote trails. From the Hayduke Trail to the Oregon Desert Trail, and the Bigfoot Trail, Pinhoti Trail, Pacific Northwest Trail, Colorado Trail, and the Benton Mackaye Trail, this presentation will take people off the beaten path.

Weis will recount the challenges faced, the views, and the transformative power of solitude in the wilderness. The community is invited to join the library for an evening of stories, visuals, and insights into the spirit of exploration.

Weis’s first visit to the North Baltimore library was back in April, when he shared his year of hiking over 8,000 miles – something only a few other individuals have accomplished. This experience was chronicled in his 2023 book, “This is Gonna Hurt.” His book will be for sale and signing following the presentation. Weis is originally from Ottawa, Ohio.
