The Bowling Green FFA chapter held its annual fruit sale earlier this fall. This long-standing fundraiser, once again, brought strong support from families, community members, and local businesses. The funds are used for the chapter’s yearly activities and operating funds.

The sale featured a selection of various items, including classic fruit boxes, specialty nuts, cheese, and sausage packages, and holiday gift sets. Community members placed orders throughout the month-long fundraiser, and the chapter received steady participation from both repeat buyers and new supporters.

The chapter credits the achievement to the hard work of its members, who actively promoted the sale in the community, as well as the continued loyalty of long-term supporters who look forward to the fundraiser each year. Orders arrived on Dec. 9. FFA members sorted, packaged, and distributed the products to buyers.

All proceeds from the sale went directly towards supporting the Bowling Green FFA chapter funds to help cover the costs of leadership conferences, state and national conventions, community service events, Career Development Events (CDE) competitions, and other chapter activities throughout the year. Buyers play a direct role in creating opportunities for students involved in agriculture education.

With another year behind them, the Bowling Green FFA members extend their gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the fundraiser. Their support helps strengthen agricultural education in the community and provides meaningful experiences for current and future FFA members.

Later in the month, on Nov. 17, the Bowling Green FFA chapter came together for its annual “Friendsgiving,” a celebration that blended food, friendship, and community service. Members were invited to bring a dish to share or donate canned goods for DECA’s “Harvest for Hunger” food drive. The evening offered a warm, welcoming space for students to relax, socialize, and enjoy time together before the busy holiday season.

The Friendsgiving event featured a wide variety of food that members brought in, turning the gathering into a true potluck-style feast. Students spent the evening laughing and playing games that encouraged teamwork and bonding for many members. The night offered a chance to unwind and connect with others in the chapter outside of the classroom setting.

In addition to the food and fun, BG FFA incorporated a service project into the Friendsgiving event: creating cards for “Operation Surprise Attack,” a program that sends encouraging letters to children with severe conditions. The goal of the initiative is to brighten the days of these children, reminding them to keep going. Members took time to write heartfelt messages and decorate cards, sensing their efforts would bring a sense of comfort.

A couple days later, on Nov. 19, senior agriculture education students from Bowling Green High School spent the day at Bowling Green preschool doing some fun educational activities. The activities included making pumpkin pie, learning about turkeys, and doing a turkey dance. The young students also learned about field corn and did a counting activity. They learned about potatoes and how they are grown, played hot potato, and did a Mr. Potato Head craft, too. The preschool students and the FFA students both seemed to have fun interacting and learning.

November also included a visit from the OSU-ATI representative, who spoke about college opportunities. FFA members also volunteered their time to help with the school-wide Veteran’s Day assembly. The month was focused on leadership, learning, and gratitude.
