Peggy J Carsey

Peggy Jo (Hood) Carsey, 93, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born in 1932 in Athens, Ohio to the late Thomas and Lillie Hood. Peggy grew up in Athens County and graduated from Waterloo High School as the class valedictorian. In November 1953, she flew to the Territory of Alaska to marry her high school sweetheart, the late Seldon Carsey, who was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage.

After moving back to Ohio in 1955, Peggy and Seldon raised three children mainly in Wellington and Bowling Green, Ohio. In 1984 they moved to Tampa, Florida, where they lived for 30 years before moving back to Bowling Green to be near family. Peggy and Seldon were married 69 years before his passing in 2023.

Over the years, Peggy worked as a secretary and financial clerk for several employers and was known for her dedication and diligence. Peggy enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, puzzles, Bible studies, attending church, and being with family and friends.

Peggy is survived by her daughter Jan (Paul) Wilkin of Washington, DC, son Alan (Sandi) Carsey of Bowling Green, Ohio, daughter-in-law Kathy Carsey of LaFollette, Tennessee, sister Theresa Sellers, grandchildren Emily (Robert) Mace, Katy Wilkin (Nigel Arruda), Seth Edwards (Katie Cliff), and Camden (Dayna) Carsey. Peggy has three great grandchildren, with two more arriving later this year.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Seldon, son Gary, her parents, and her sister Bonnie LaHugh.

The family would like to thank Brookdale Senior Living for providing a comfortable place for Peggy to live and Bridge Hospice for their care in her final months.

A private burial is planned. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
