Community invited to vote for ‘Best Picture Book of 2025’ in mock Caldecott event at library

From WOOD COUNTY DISTRICT PUBLIC LIBRARY

Readers of all ages are invited to the Wood County District Public Library’s mock Caldecott program on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. Kathy East, retired WCDPL children’s librarian and two-time Caldecott committee member, will lead the discussion and describe the criteria for voting on the most distinguished picture book of the year.

Everyone will be encouraged to join the conversation and participate in a mock Caldecott vote on their favorite 2025 published picture book.

The Caldecott Award, along with other youth media awards, will be announced by the American Library Association via live-stream from Chicago, Illinois. Everyone is invited to a watch party for the award announcements in the Children’s Place Interactive Room at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26.

No registration is required. People can vote for their favorite picture books now by visiting The Children’s Place or by filling out the online form at wcdpl.org/mock-caldecott. For more information, call 419-352-8253 or email woodkids@wcdpl.org.
